For a beginner we had recommend either of the martial-wearing classes, Wizard or Blader. There is not really a build for either, you should put the stats into the next piece of equipment you want to wear, and then dump the rest into INT for the Wizard or DEX for the Blader. Just quest, and go where your quests take you.
That will get you to level 50 and beyond fairly easy. This game already has enough grinding later on; you will want to quest as much as you can now.
